Album View: The Psyatics' Latest Release "Famous Monsters"

Already coloring the music industry since 2012, three piece rock and roll/surf band, The Psyatics continuing their mission in entertaining the world by releasing a new album titled “Famous Monsters”. Despite had its official outing back on August 19, 2016, the band's third full length release remain an interesting stuff to check out, especially for those who love surf rock kind of music with some mix of rock and roll, punk and garage being blend into one unity. Those kind of elements are basically what people can expect to enjoy while tuning in to this three-piece rockers' music, notably their latest outing.

Seemingly keen on heating things up immediately, the trio started things of with their album title track, which somewhat tells about the life history off infamous serial killers. Despite the supposedly heavy theme, the lyrics had some comedic relief and musically it's rather fun with that surf rock along with punk-ish combo. Fine drum lines combined with raw guitar riffs and exciting jazzy like bass line, creating such energetic piece.'The Last Time I Saw Julia' has a bit of that 70's rock and roll vibe into it, providing a unique ambiance, especially with the nice melodic guitar play being provided. The third track, 'Lay Low' is another energy driven song with fast paced beat that should easily attract those young punk rock enthusiasts, who are looking to get groovy.

'Shake them Bones' starts off with an exciting bass intro and brings out another fun exciting surf rock vibe which is also swiftly combined with punk-rock beat. An element of dissonant jazzy feel can be felt from 'You Killed Me First' especially in the intro and early verse part. Such an interesting song indeed as it's musically entertaining and somewhat offer an intriguing atmosphere, notably with the running bass pattern. 'Pet Names' also offer a slightly different approach with its intro along with nice additional vocals from Danielle Bell, who provide that strong female voice touch into that track. Those who are looking for more strong jazzy feel being incorporated by the band can tune themselves to 'The Cost of Love in Today's Market' that certainly brings out that element.

Aside from their own original tracks, The Psyatics also added two cover songs which are, 'I Like to Die' (The Drags) along with 'I Can't Stand It' (Velvet Underground). Those two additions pretty much strengthening the musical line up that the band set up for “Famous Monsters”, without creating any kind of gap which can sometime happens when any musicians brought in cover songs into their repertoire. Overall, the composition of tracks for the record is quite solid as it's more than capable of delivering their musical approach with quality songs as well. Those who are fans of genre such as surf rock, garage, punk will certainly find this release an exciting piece of art that worth getting.

Starting out back in 2012, with formation consisting of, Rob Bell (bass/vocals), Jack Ball (guitars) and Mark Baertschi (drums), The Psyatics up till now have made quite the name for themselves. Already releasing three full albums up til now, including “Famous Monsters” in August 2016, this three piece earned themselves some rave reviews and recognition outside of the United States as they recently did a tour in Japan. Notably, the Nevada based rockers are keen on getting more acknowledgment for their musical talent and their recent release could very well be that needed stepping stone in reaching it since it's indeed a well crafted musical adventure.
