Kiko Loureiro Releases ‘Out of the Void’ With Plini, Confirmed Status With Megadeth

Guitar virtuoso, Kiko Loureiro shares a new song (along with its music video) entitled ‘Out of the Void’ which features a collaboration with Plini. Aside from releasing the new track, Kiko recently addressed his departure from Megadeth while admitting to suggesting the band reunite with Marty Friedman before eventually picking Teemu Mantysaari as a replacement.

Kiko Loureiro Unleashes a Duet Track With Plini Titled ‘Out of the Void’

The Brazilian guitar virtuoso continues to be active in the music world despite his decision to take a break from Megadeth’s tour in the final months of 2023 by releasing a new song. The special track was called ‘Out of the Void’, a collaboration with fellow guitar maestro, Plini, composed the first time they met each other in person.

Making ‘Out of the Void’ more special, the two guitar maestros also unleashed the music video for the song, albeit it’s just a simple clip of the duo rocking it out. The song itself pretty much embodied their basic progressive rock and fusion roots as it’s visible from start to finish. It’s a track that will excite guitar heads and notably fans of the two maestros.

Aside from the collaboration with Plini, the new song also involved Bruno Valverde on drums, while the mixing and mastering were done by Adam Bentley. As for the music video itself, it was done by Silent Paprika Film and there’s more exciting stuff for the fans as the behind-the-scenes clip of the guitar duo’s collaboration is also available on social media.

The collaboration between the two guitar virtuosos happened due to the assistance of Neural DSP as they are promoting Plini’s latest Archetype which is also being used to record ‘Out of the Void. It’s certainly an exciting project that the company should potentially continue to set up in the future, if possible with other top guitar players.

Kiko Suggests Megadeth to Reunite with Marty Friedman

Earlier, just a few days before releasing ‘Out of the Void’, Kiko also addressed his situation at Megadeth for the current year. As many music fans know, the guitarist decided to retire from the Trash-metal act on a podcast interview back in November and he also picked Teemu Mantysaary as his current replacement.

However, although it was Kiko himself who scouted and picked Mantysaary as the new guitarist for Megadeth, the Brazilian virtuoso initially had another idea. Speaking in a recent interview with Guitar World, the former Angra axeman reveals that he suggested the band reunite with Marty Friedman following their recent show in Japan.

“Actually, I even mentioned to the management and Dave that I thought bringing Marty Friedman back would be amazing,” Kiko revealed.

Nevertheless, for now, Megadeth still opt to have Mantysaary as their guitarist for their upcoming tour this year. However, there could potentially be further discussion from Dave Mustaine with the band’s management regarding a potential return of Friedman, although it’s not something that Kiko knows about.

“I have no idea if they’re talking to him, but I did say that. But again, I have no idea beyond that,” the Brazilian guitarist added.

Losing Kiko for the current time is certainly a loss for Megadeth, especially since he joined them back in April 2015, the Brazilian has contributed massively to the band’s music aside from putting on excellent performances on tour. The Trash Metal act had plenty of success with Kiko, notably winning the ‘Best Metal Performance’ award at the 59th Grammy Awards on February 12, 2017.

Meanwhile, aside from writing a new track with Plini, Kiko is also planning other exciting stuff that won’t involve him setting up any band schedules in 2024. The former Angra guitarist will most likely embark on several solo activities, so do check out any of his upcoming stuff on our website or the guitarist’s website and social media accounts.
