Megadeth Revealed Details for Their Show Cancellation on Sunday

The renowned metal band recently had to cancel their show last September 15 at Virginia Credit Union Live! at Richmond Raceway. That situation escalated as Peter Frampton also had to cancel his show at the same venue a few days later, claiming that it was because of Megadeth.

Frampton reportedly said to the media that the reason for him having to cancel his show at Richmond Raceway was because the metal band’s soundcheck ruined the venue. The veteran singer/songwriter didn’t seem to ask for confirmation about the situation but believed that it was indeed Megadeth that somehow forced the show to be cancelled.

“So, we had a show cancelled the other day because of weather. And also Megadeth did a soundcheck, I think a couple of days before our show, and after they finished their soundcheck, there was structural damage to the stage. I’m not blaming them — could have been another band — but it looks pretty like it. So, sorry, Megadeth. I had to rat on you,” Frampton said (via Metalsucks.net)

However, Frampton’s statement has now been rebuffed by the band who provided a detailed explanation of what happened at the event. According to the official statement from their publicist, SROPR, contrary to the accusation, Megadeth stated that they didn’t even get to do any soundcheck as they already found problems on the venue grid.

The band’s rigger discovered the problem with the grid while preparing to hang lights at the venue and immediately informed all related parties, including the show promotors about it. After further discussion, everyone agreed that it was not safe to continue the show so they agreed on cancelling it.

Megadeth Dave Mustaine Claps Back at Frampton’s Statement

Dave Mustaine Not Happy With Peter Frampton's Statement

Although Frampton didn’t fully blame the legendary metal band for the show’s cancellation, his statement was not well received by the trash metal act. The band’s frontman, Dave Mustaine talked back over the English guitarist/songwriter’s accusation claiming that it was disappointing to hear that kind of statement.

Mustaine continued to highlight that their reason for cancelling the show on September 15 was purely because of safety reasons. The guitarist/vocalist went on to add that Frampton was probably misinformed about the situation.

“It seems Frampton was misinformed about our show being cancelled. The decision was purely based on safety. It’s disappointing when someone you admire talks out their ass about you,” Mustaine stated.

Despite having to cancel their September 15 show in Richmond, the legendary metal act are not shutting down their current tour. The bad are still enjoying their time on the road as they still have four current shows available from September 24 until September 28. Meanwhile, Frampton will have one show left for this month as he is scheduled to play on September 26 in New York.
