Ukrainian progressive rock band Vøvk have released their second studio album Litera, out already on October 3rd. Blending progressive rock, post-hardcore, and grunge, the album captures the raw emotions of life in wartime — exhaustion, anger, calm, and hope.
Vøvk Unleash New Album “Litera”
Rather than focusing directly on conflict, Litera expresses its themes through natural elements like drought, fire, and renewal. The title, meaning “Letter,” symbolizes the importance of language and communication in preserving culture and unity, even through the hardest times.
“We realized this is how our feelings look in wartime: exhaustion, an outburst of anger, uneasy calm, new hope, and the echoes of old fears,” the band explains.

The Sound and Vision
Litera continues Vøvk’s evolution in sound and storytelling. Recorded at Lizard Audio Studio with producer Roman Bondar, the album expands their musical range with layered percussion, synthesizers, and a more atmospheric approach while keeping their post-hardcore roots alive.
Fans of Cave In, Mastodon, Deftones, and Porcupine Tree will recognize the emotional depth and texture in Vøvk’s sound. Ahead of the album, the band released two contrasting singles: “Iskra”, a fiery, high-energy performance video, and “Mur”, a minimalist black-and-white visual exploring loneliness and isolation. Together with the animated videos by Diogo Soares and Hanna Stryzh, these visuals create a powerful artistic world around the album.
Collaborations, Message, and Background

The album features contributions from musicians of Zwyntar, Omana, Straytones, and Svitaie, enriching the record’s atmosphere. A standout collaboration includes Johannes Persson of Cult of Luna, who sings in Ukrainian for the first time on “Promin.” The closing track, “Okean,” features Anton Slepakov (iDMG, ВГНВЖ) in a haunting spoken-word passage.
Formed in Kyiv, Ukraine, Vøvk (which means Wolf) first gained attention for their blend of progressive and post-hardcore sounds filled with emotional intensity. The band’s lyrics often explore personal growth, social issues, and human connection. Over the years, they’ve performed across Europe and built a reputation for their dynamic, heartfelt live shows and strong DIY spirit.
Litera is more than just a record — it’s a document of survival, creativity, and hope in the face of uncertainty.
