Marking the reunion of the original G3 members, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson recently released the first single ‘Crossroads’ from their upcoming Live Album. The new record was taken from their recent reunion tour that saw the original lineup hitting the road again since starting everything back in 1996.
Satriani, Vai, and Johnson Picked Crossroads as the First Single
The original G3 lineup brought tons of joy for fans earlier this year following their reunion Tour which started back in January and ended in February. Although it was a relatively short tour and they’re only performing in the U.S. it was still a noteworthy moment, especially for guitar heads.
Noticing that they didn’t perform in many shows for that reunion tour, Satriani, Vai, and Johson seem keen on making it up by releasing an upcoming live album entitled “Reunion Live”. Marking the upcoming record’s release, G3 have released an official first single ‘Crossroads’ which was one of the tracks they played during their jam session part.
The track was released via all music platforms on October 22 along with its accompanying music video which is was directed by ZZ Satriani. ‘Crossroads’ is certainly an interesting pick but more than worthy enough to give a sneak peek of what fans can get from the upcoming live record.
G3’s “Reunion Live” Album Set to be Special
Meanwhile, the upcoming “Reunion Album” itself looks to be a special feast for guitar heads and especially fans of Satriani, Vai, and Johnson. The new record is scheduled to hit the market on January 31, 2025, and will not only consist of clips of the three maestro’s jamming but also their whole individual full-album set list as well.
The new record will be released in several formats, a 2CD set(including a photo booklet), a 4LP Gatefold in black and also a deluxe edition that will include the 2CD, three coloured artist vinyls, another splattered jam vinyl and a 64-page photo book to complete everything. Guitar fans will certainly be overjoyed to get their hands on that upcoming album but will need to wait just a little bit longer before they can finally get their hands on it.

After such a long wait, it’s certainly exciting to witness the original G3 lineup perform again so those who didn’t get to check out their recent live performances can eventually check it out. Not only guitar heads, but music lovers should try to get their hands on the upcoming G3 “Reunion Live” as the maestros’ performances are certainly an exciting music repertoire to enjoy.
