Guitar virtuoso, Paul Gilbert can’t seem to stop surprising his fans and the guitar community after announcing the release of his new guitar solo CD entitled “H&R Block Solos”. The special CD is being released in collaboration with renowned music merch company Bandwear and it’s also dedicated to Gilbert’s former student, Buckethead.

Paul Gilbert Releases Special Solos CD “H&R Block Solos”
Having just completed his long farewell tour with Mr. Big while releasing their latest album “10”, PG is not resting on his laurels. The guitar virtuoso suddenly surprised his fans as he released a new guitar solo collection CD on September 17, “H&R Block Solos” with Bandwear.

The new solo CD is a collection of Gilbert’s terrifying guitar playing at the age of 17 which was recorded on June 11th, 1984. He recorded the solos in the back room of a H&R Block building during his preparation before heading to LA. PG recorded his playing on a cassette and was supposedly preparing it for a demo.
PG’s New Solos CD Is Dedicated to Buckethead

Aside from showcasing his playing at the age of 17, another special thing from the “H&R Block Solos” is that it was also dedicated to Gilbert’s former student, Brian Patrick Carroll also known as Buckethead. The mysterious guitarist took lessons from Gilbert for a while before eventually following up his master’s footsteps and becoming one of the most appreciated guitar players to this date.

As it was stated on Bandwear, PG’s playing during those years was Buckethead’s favourite and pretty much inspired him to eventually take guitar lessons from Mr. Big’s Axeman. Gilbert also put out a special hashtag on his official Instagram account writing ‘this ones for you Buckethead’.
“H&R Block Solos” Not Paul Gilbert’s First Solos CD
Interestingly Gilbert’s “H&R Block Solos” is not the only solo CD that Gilbert has released recently as previously he also unveiled “Vernon Solos CD”. That CD was also a collection of his solos but it was recorded in 1988 during a Racer X rehearsal at the age of 21.

PG’s new “H&R Block Solos” is currently the first batch and all available copy is completed with the guitar virtuoso’s autograph. The maestro could potentially release another batch of his latest solos CD but it most likely won’t include an autograph as that was the concept for the “Vernon Solos CD”.
The “H&R Block Solos” CD plus autograph is already available for order and purchase at the guitarist’s official website and his Bandwear’s online shop, retailing at $25.
