Paul Gilbert and Andy Timmons bring out a pleasant surprise for guitar heads all over the globe with their recent appearance on the Sweetwater channel. The two maestros were having fun jamming, treading licks, and providing exciting lessons and tips for every guitar enthusiast.

Paul Gilbert and Andy Timmons Jamming Over Classic Songs

The guitar virtuosos meet at the Sweetwater studio, notably during Paul’s recent recording session for Mr.Big’s upcoming album, which is planned for a release sometime this year. Meanwhile, Andy was supposedly setting up some videos for a new pedal and they ended up shooting another stuff together.
Both maestros were having fun together as they talked about music while jamming to several stuff, including classic tracks. Some of the songs they jammed with were a rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven in A, Robin Trower’s ‘I Can’t Wait Much Longer’ and The Doors ‘Light My Fire’.
Two Guitar Maestros Learn Licks and Chops from Each Other
Aside from jamming with those classic songs, Paul and Andy also showcase their hunger to learn more about music and guitar by taking notes from each other. Albeit already masters at their craft, the two guitarists were not shy in asking questions about playing and just learning things that they might not be too familiar with at first.

It’s certainly refreshing to see how two maestros interact with one another without showcasing any huge egos as they share their musical knowledge without holding anything back. Both Paul and Andy were trading off licks as they played through their favorite jam chord progression while providing insightful tips for aspiring guitarists such as the go-to lick to signal major chord, the importance of scat signing, stealing lines from vocalis/singe, understanding time and feel, etc.
Although guitar heads would probably know that it’s not the first time that Paul Gilbert and Andy Timmons have met up and collaborated as they have had many encounters before, especially on stage. Being a fellow Ibanez guitar artist also gives them that strong connection and more opportunity to catch up or work together in several events, which explains the warm relationship between the two.
Although the two maestros didn’t give out all of their exquisite repertoires, it was more than enough to bring plenty of joy and knowledge to any guitar-practicing musicians in all over the world.
