Guitar legends, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson reveal exciting news for music fans, notably guitar heads announcing the return of G3 with the three original members heading for a tour this year.
G3 Reunion Tour With Original Trio Announced
The original G3 concert tour started in 1996 with Satriani, Vai and Johnson as the original trio which started everything. Many guitar virtuosos joined the project afterwards, including the likes of Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Uli Jon Roth, and many more.
The last concert happened in 2023 with Satriani, Petrucci, and Phil Collen lining up for the US leg while Uli Jon Roth filling up for Collen on the Europe trip. Unfortunately, the project pretty much stopped following COVID-19 but after things finally got better, Satriani and co decided to restart the G3 tour once again.
Satriani, Vai and EJ announced their reunion tour via their official social media account, creating a pretty funny interaction video. The three maestros were seen talking to each other while eventually revealing the big news of G3’s reunion tour that will kick-start in January 2024.
Commenting about the upcoming reunion tour, Joe admits that being able to go on the road with Steve and Eric is a dream come true.
“Reuniting the original G3 lineup is a dream come true for me, can’t wait to take the stage with Eric and Steve again,” Satch revealed.
For now, Satriani reveals that their upcoming road trip will be held in the U.S. and unfortunately set in a limited run of shows so they won’t be adding new dates. The trio are set to start their tour on January 23 in Tucson, AZ and will be closing that road trip on February 10 in Los Angeles, CA. There’s still no confirmation on whether they plan on doing a second batch of that tour but for now, they are only planning to play on those 13 shows.
There will be special VIP tickets being made available for fans who are keen on checking out the maestro’s pre-concert stuff along with acquiring some special gifts from them.
